August 30, 1933 – February 22, 2013

Mass of Christian Burial celebrating the life of Laura E. Pierskalla, 79, of St. Cloud will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in St. Cloud. Laura passed away peacefully with family by her side on Friday, February 22, 2013 at Sterling Park Care Center in Waite Park after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. Reverend Thomas Knoblach will officiate. Entombment will be in Assumption Cemetery Mausoleum, St. Cloud.
Family and friends may call from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud and after 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday at the church. St. Anthony’s Christian Women along with Catholic United Financial will pray the rosary at 4:30 p.m. followed by parish prayers at 5:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Laura was born on August 30, 1933 at home in Richmond, Minnesota to the late George and Mary (Schwope) Peltz. She married Marcellus Pierskalla on June 30, 1959 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Richmond. Laura lived all of her married life in St. Cloud and worked as a housekeeper for 25 years. She also was employed at the St. Cloud Surgical Center and Cashwise. Laura was a member of St. Anthony’s Parish, Christian Women, Catholic United Financial and the Little Flower Mission Group.
She enjoyed quilting, embroidery, crocheting, sewing, traveling and camping. She loved gardening and canning her produce. Laura treasured time spent with her family and grandchildren.
Laura is survived by her husband, Marcellus of St. Cloud; children, Mary (Larry) Nelson of Duluth, Anita (Jack) Herold of Sartell, Dale (Marla) of St. Cloud, Leon (Dina) of Melrose, Earl (Jackie Schaefer) of Collegeville; nine grandchildren, Cindy (Ryan) Fitzthum, Anne and Steve Herold, Matt and Greg Nelson, Abby and Andrew Pierskalla, Brenna and Zackary Pierskalla; sister and brother, Marcella Dingman and Benedict Peltz both of Richmond; and mother-in-law, Johanna Pierskalla of Waite Park.
She was preceded in death by her brothers and sister, Felix , Cecelia Holthaus, Fintan and Leander.
A very special thank you to the wonderful staff at Sterling Park for their exceptional and loving care of our mother.
