Lee Joseph Mayavski

August 23, 1953 – December 18, 2023

Lee Joseph Mayavski age 70 of St. Cloud, MN passed away at home on December 18, 2023. He was surrounded by his loved ones.

Lee was born on August 23, 1953. He graduated from St. Cloud Technical High School and attended Brainerd Junior College.

Lee served the community as a police officer for 30 years. Following his retirement, he filled his time with woodworking and remodeling projects. His favorite spot to explore his creatively was in his pole shed, affectionately known as “Lee’s Place”. Lee was passionate about soccer and loved coaching his kids and grandkids, passing on his competitive nature. In Lee’s younger years he sought out adventure, from winter camping in the Boundary Waters to cycling and hiking with friends and family. Lee loved exploring the outdoors and enjoyed spending time with his family at the cabin up north.

Lee showed his love and affection through helping and serving others. No matter the season you would always find Lee assisting his neighbors and family members with projects. He was always available to help with leaves in the fall and snow removal in the winter.

He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years Sandy, children, Will (Lacey), Molly (Dan), and Andy (Kerri), along with his grandchildren Mia, Ava, Kaileen, and Cade. Lee’s sisters Dianne, Priscilla (Fred), and Barbara (Sanjeev) are among the many family members that will miss Lee’s huge heart and fun-loving personality.

We would like to thank Centra Care Cancer Center and St. Croix Hospice for their support and kindness.

In Lieu of flowers, donations to the Tri-County Humane Society would be appreciated. Lee was a lover of all animals and leaves behind his dog Ivy, along with his grand dogs Max, Gunner, and Otis.

Lee’s Celebration of Life will take place on Tuesday, January 9, 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Church of Saint Anthony in St. Cloud, MN. Visitation will take place beginning at 10:00 AM at the church with a meal following the service.

Connie and I thought the world of Lee. He was a wonderful addition to our close-knit loving Lokensgard family. We will remember Lee as a great father and grandfather, and the most talented handyman we have ever known. He could repair, remodel, or build anything. And he shared this gift by helping so many people. We loved Lee, and we are sure that we will see him again, in a better place.

I’m so sorry to hear about Lee.. I hadn’t seen him in many years and it was so nice to see him at my dads celebration of life, just a couple years ago..I have a story about Lee from many years ago when he was still a police officer.. I may have been “parking” with my boyfriend and he came up and knocked on the window while on duty.. I was pretty embarrassed but I am married to that same guy today! Lots of Christmas memories too spending it with their family. I hope you find peace and love in all the memories, my heart breaks for all of you. All my love, Susan

Sandy and family, I am so sorry for your loss. Cherish the 51 years you had together. I remember when Lee joined our 6th grade class at Garfield. He was always a good guy. Love Anne
