September 10, 1923 – February 23, 2010

Funeral Services will be at 9:00 A.M. on Saturday, February 27, 2010 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in St. Cloud, MN for Leo Joseph Rahm age 86 who died on Tuesday, February 23, 2010 at St. Benedict Senior Community in St. Cloud, MN. The Reverend Thomas Knoblach will be the celebrant. Entombment will be at the Assumption Mausoleum in St. Cloud, MN.
Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Friday, February 26, 2010 at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud, and from 7:30 A.M. to 8:30 A.M. Saturday morning at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud. St. Anthony’s Parish Prayers will be at 6:00 P.M., Eagles Aerie #622 and V.F.W. Post #428 prayers will both be at 6:30 P.M.
Leo was born on September 10, 1923, the son of George and Laura (Watercott) Rahm. He grew up and attended school in Foley, MN where he graduated in 1941. He then worked at Liturgical Press at Collegeville, MN. He was inducted into the United States Army on May 6, 1943, serving his country overseas in the South Pacific Theatre of operation during World War II. He attained the rank of Corporal. After his Honorable Discharge on December 31, 1945 he returned to work at Liturgical Press.
He was united in marriage to Valeria K. “Val” Wirtzfeld on August 20, 1946 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Cold Spring, MN. After they were married, they made their home in St. Cloud where they raised their seven children. Leo worked over 30 years as an insurance agent for MSI Insurance. Later in his retirement he worked for Central Glass and as a salesman at Pan Town Classic Auto. These jobs allowed him to be out with the public, which he enjoyed.
He loved fishing, camping, being outdoors, and was a classic cars enthusiast. He was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Eagles Aerie #622, a lifetime member of V.F.W. Post #428 and Knights of Columbus Council, Bishop Zardetti #5548 and was a charter member of St. Cloud Antique Auto Club.
He is survived by: his children, Kathy (Duane) Plemel of Waite Park, MN, Jan (Tom) Mertz of Plymouth, MN, Pat (Mike) Schneider of Duelm, MN, Dick Rahm of Rice, MN, Gary L. (Peggy) Rahm of Seattle, WA, Mary Jo (Steve) Foley of Scottsdale, AZ, Lori (Mark) Hottman of Minnetonka, MN, 18 Grandchildren, 14 Great Grandchildren and one Great Grandchild on the way, one brother Joseph Rahm of International Falls, MN and one sister, Clare (Tom) Zaworski of St. Cloud, MN.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Valeria “Val” Rahm on August 20, 2006, two sisters, Therese Lubinski and Rosemary Whitmore.
