This was a wonderful tribute to your Grandmother Anita. I’m glad I got to see it. The photos were so nice to see and there is no doubt she lived a full and happy life with a beautiful family. A very special Grandmother!
Mabel E. Bednar
April 8, 1916 – July 31, 2006

Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, August 4, 2006 at the First United Methodist Church in St. Cloud, MN for Mabel Emma Bednar age 90 of St. Cloud, MN formerly of Grove City, MN. The Reverend Jim Towler will officiate. Interment will be at the Burr Oak Cemetery, at Union Grove Township, Meeker County, MN.
Visitation will be on Thursday, August 3, 2006 from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud, MN, and on Friday morning, August 4, 2006 from 9:30 A.M. to 10:30 A.M. at the First United Methodist Church. A prayer service will be held on Thursday evening at 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
Mabel was born April 8, 1916 at Union Grove Township, Meeker County, MN, the daughter of Willis and Violet (Hislop) Greeley. She was baptized at the Crow River United Methodist Church. She attended Paynesville High School graduating in 1933. She attended Teachers training in Litchfield in 1934 and later taught Country School for 13 years in Martin, Meeker and Kandiyohi Counties. She married Alton Bednar on June 15, 1944 at the family farm near Lake Koronis. They lived and farmed in Harrison Township, Kandiyohi County for many years. After Mr. Bednar died on September 11, 1980, Mabel moved to St. Cloud. While in St. Cloud, Mabel was active in the community volunteering in many places. This has been her home since that time. She was a past member of Crow River United Methodist Church and currently a member of First United Methodist in St. Cloud.
She is survived by: her son, Alven (Shirley) of St. Cloud, three grandchildren, Anita (Neil) Branstad of Hutchinson, MN and Alishia and Alan Bednar both of St. Cloud, MN, two sisters, Dorothy (Roy) Brown of Willmar, MN and Jeanette Greeley of Cokato, MN and two sisters-in-law Alice Greeley of Litchfield, MN and Dorothy Greeley of Waukon, MN.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mabel was preceded in death by: one son Philip, three brothers, Brenton, Robert and Jarvis Greeley, and one sister, Leota Hawkinson.
