Mardel G. "Marty" Samuelson

April 3, 1935 – December 7, 2015

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 11, 2015 at Rejoice Lutheran Church in Clearwater for Mardel G. “Marty” Samuelson, age 80 of Clearwater who passed away on Monday, December 7, 2015 at the St. Cloud Hospital. Reverend Laurie Weis and Reverend Denise Croskey will officiate. Burial will take place at Mount Hope Cemetery, Clearwater.
Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday at Rejoice Lutheran Church and continuing after 10:00 a.m. on Friday. Arrangements were made by the Daniel Funeral Home, Clearwater.
Marty was born April 3, 1935 in Alexandria, Minnesota to Manley and Olga (Linder) Larson. She married Leonard E. “Stubby” Samuelson on May 4, 1957 at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Alexandria. The couple lived in Alexandria until 1965 and central Minnesota until settling in Clearwater in 1971. Marty was employed at the Clearwater Travel Plaza for over 30 years. She was a member of Rejoice Lutheran Church where she was active in youth groups and mission trips.
Marty is survived by her husband Stubby; children, Sam (Candy) of Clearwater, Dan (Joan) of Monticello and Simona of Monticello; four grandchildren, Kali (Chad) Pichotta, Jake, Ellen and Maria; great granddaughter, Lexi; brother, Laurel Larson of Sylvester, Georgia and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and sisters, Beulah Frakes and Majel Mikkelson.
Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers.

I got acquainted with Marty when I lived in Minnesota in the middle 80’s. We quit smoking together! I loved her sense of humor and spirit. So sorry for your loss, my sympathy to you all.

Who knew when I saw you on Friday that in a couple days you would be gone? RIP my good friend…….

I was so happy to see you at our last H. S. reunion and that you helped me get in touch with a dear friend from High School days. My condolences to the family. I know she will be missed by so many.

Marty offered a welcoming smile and her friendship when I was a stranger to the area. It meant a lot to me at the time and I’m sure she thought it was no big deal because she was just being herself. She was a sweet soul and I feel blessed to have known her.

I Love You more than life itself and will miss you forever.

My heart aches for all of you during this difficult time. Please know that so many people are praying for strength and peace. Marty was an amazing woman.

meet Marty and Stubby,when they lived in trailer house.I am Unie Green’s sister-in-law. .they where two of a kind.Unie died in May,1993. There will be lot of party going on with those two. Will miss them both. Love and Hugs to all.

Aunt Marty there is definitely a void here without your presence, however, you’ll pick up where you left off when you & Mom unite in heaven. Thanks for the memories!
