Mass of Christian Burial celebrating the life of Marie E. Magnuson, 94, of St. Cloud will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, March 23, 2012 at St. Mary’s Cathedral Lower Church in St. Cloud. Marie passed away on Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at Sterling Park Care Center in Waite Park. Reverend Anthony Oelrich will officiate. Burial will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis.
Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Friday at the church.
Marie was born on August 29, 1917 in St. Cloud, Minnesota to the late Henry and Engratis (Reinert) Lintgen. She graduated from Tech High School and St. Cloud State University with a Bachelor of Education Degree. She married Carl Magnuson on August 16, 1952 at St. Mary’s Cathedral and lived all of her life in rural St. Cloud. Marie operated the newsstand at the St. Cloud Post Office for 14 years. Marie was a member of St. Mary’s Cathedral, St. Ann’s Christian Women and the Eagle’s Aerie #622 Auxiliary. She also was active with RSVP (Retired Senior Volunteer Program) and a volunteer for the Department of Education.
She enjoyed visiting, knitting ,tatting, living on the lake, her dog and especially her Twin’s baseball games.
Marie is survived by her brother, Ed Lintgen of St. Cloud; sister, Adeline Janku of Foley; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl on February 21, 1989; and brothers, Norbert, Alfred and Charles Lintgen.

I have many fond memories of visiting with Marie and how intelligent she was about everything….especially her Twin’s Baseball team. Every year we would pick up Marie and take her to Turkey Bingo in Rockville where she would always bring her Brail bingo card with. Afterwards, we would bring her back to mom and dad’s and have her over for supper. My kids were always amazed how she did not let her disability stop her at doing anything…even baking cookies. Marie your wit and humor will be missed as well as the many interesting conversations. Rest in peace.
