Marie J. Schmidt
March 23, 1922 – June 20, 2012

Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday, June 25, at 1:00 PM at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, for Marie J. Schmidt, 90, of St. Cloud, who died June 20, 2012. The Reverend Thomas Knoblach will officiate. Entombment will be in Assumption Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 PM on Sunday and after 12:00 noon on Monday both at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in St. Cloud. Parish prayers will be at 5:00 PM on Sunday at the church. Arrangements are with the Daniel Funeral Home, St. Cloud.
Marie was born on March 23, 1922, in St. Cloud, to Carl and Effie (Hammers) Truzinski. She lived her entire life in St. Cloud. Marie graduated from Cathedral High School where she was in the Drum and Bugle Corps, and played cello in the Orchestra. Marie was a former President of the Garfield PTA, belonged to the Daughters of Isabella, and was a member of the Eagle’s Women’s Auxiliary. She worked at Sentinnel Printing for 20 years. Marie was an avid bowler for over 60 years.
She married John M. Schmidt on June 12, 1943 at Camp Walters, TX. They moved back to St. Cloud shortly after WWII. Marie and John made many camping and canoeing trips in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area. They also toured the USA on their Gold Wing Motorcycle. Her last motorcycle trip was in July of 2011.
Marie is survived by: husband John of St. Cloud; children Dr. John of Grass Valley, CA, Jim (Sharon) of Delano, MN, Jerry (Marianne) of Eden Prairie, MN; sister Ruth Gambrino; brother Dan Truzinski; 7 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 sisters, and 2 brothers.
Special thanks to St. Benedicts Alzheimer’s unit, where Marie spent her last 5 months.
Memorials are preferred to the Alzheimer’s Association.

I am so very sorry for your loss. Marie was a wonderful, kind, loving, woman. I will always remember her as having the most beautiful smile and she always was smiling. You have my deepest sympathy and your family is in my thoughts and prayers.
