Marie S. Leyendecker

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. on Monday, June 27, 2011 at St. Louis Catholic Church in Paynesville for Marie S. Leyendecker, age 84, of Paynesville. Marie passed away peacefully on June 22, 2011 at the St. Cloud Hospital with her loving husband of 62 years by her side and after being able to say good-bye to her family. Burial will take place in the St. Agnes Parish Cemetery in Roscoe.

Relatives and friends may call from 4-8 p.m. on Sunday, June 26, at the St. Louis Catholic Church in Paynesville. The Daughters of Isabella along with the St. Louis Christian Women and Holy Family Society will pray a rosary at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday at church. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Monday.

Marie was born December 7, 1926 in Richmond, MN to Christian and Gertrude (Meyer) Kolb. She was the middle child in a family of three. Marie attended school in St. Martin and worked for a short time at Herberger’s in St. Cloud. On June 15, 1949, she married Matt Leyendecker at St. Mary’s Cathedral in St. Cloud. Matt and Marie lived for many years in Roscoe, MN. Subsequently, they built two homes near Big Lake and Rice Lake and eventually retired to Paynesville where they resided the last 22 years until a very recent move to John Paul Apartments in Cold Spring. Matt and Marie had nine children. She was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church, Daughters of Isabella, St. Louis Christian Women, Holy Family Society in Roscoe and American Legion Post 271 Auxiliary.

Marie was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She loved kids so much she carried out her love by babysitting for other families as well. Marie was a wonderful cook and took pride in keeping a clean home. She loved to play cards, go shopping, go out to eat, and spend time with her family.

Marie is survived by her husband of 62 years, Matt, and their nine children: Charles (Rose) Leyendecker of Cold Spring, Diane (Ken) Thomes of Andover, Doris (Leon) Heinen of St. Cloud, Jane (Tom) Widmer of Richmond, Denis (Mary) Leyendecker of Rochester, Connie (Marv) Mueller of Cold Spring, Tim (Shelly) Leyendecker of Cold Spring, Sharon (Ben) Gertken of Richmond and Brenda (Dennis) Lieser of Spring Hill. Marie is also survived by her sister Rita (Paul) Herges, 20 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her parents, three grandchildren Shawn Leyendecker, Tracy Mueller and Sara Leyendecker and her sister Agnes LeFleur.
