Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 5, 2014 at St. Margaret’s Catholic Church in Lake Henry for Marie T. Hemmesch, age 97, of Lake Henry. Marie passed away peacefully on Monday, June 2, surrounded by her children, at the Mother of Mercy Nursing Home in Albany. Burial will take place in the St. Margaret’s Parish Cemetery in Lake Henry.
Relatives and friends may call from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 4 and after 9:30 a.m. on Thursday both at St. Margaret’s Catholic Church in Lake Henry. St. Margaret’s Christian Women and Catholic United Financial members will pray a rosary at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the church.
Marie was born June 17, 1916 in Richmond, MN to Herman and Margaretha (Vogt) Niehaus. She married Marcus Hemmesch on June 4, 1946 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Richmond. They farmed north of Lake Henry all of their married life.
Marie is survived by her children Leo (Mary Jo) Hemmesch of Lake Henry, Helen (Bernard) Neu of Shakopee and Anna (Gerald) Klaphake of St. Martin, 22 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, and sister-in-law Agnes Niehaus of Richmond.
Preceding her in death were her parents, husband Marcus (1990), one great granddaughter, brothers Joe and Albert and sisters Regina and Angela.
