Max H. Opitz

November 14, 1923 – November 20, 2013

A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held from 10:00 – 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 23, at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud for Max H. Opitz, 90, of St. Cloud, formerly of Henning, who died November 20, 2013. Inurnment, with Military Honors, will be at 11:00 AM on Monday, November 25, in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Little Falls.
Max was born on November 14, 1923, in St. Cloud to Henry and Margaret (Roesser) Opitz. He served in the US Army during WW II. He was employed by the Burlington Northern Railroad for 37 years, retiring in 1983. Max was a resident of St. Cloud until moving to Henning in 1985. He was a member of the VFW Post #428. Max loved to fish and he loved wildlife.
Max is survived by two nieces and three nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Eloise Yozamp, Constance Koch, and Wanda Zitur.

My being born and raised in St. Joseph, Max and I both retired to the Clitherall/Henning area and had coffee in Koep’s convenience store daily….doing scratch-offs and remininscing…..I miss him….Lloyd
