Mike was the first born child of Daniel and Rose Mary (Kostreba) Dombrovski. He grew up in north St. Cloud and attended St. Peter’s grade school, North Junior High School and was a proud 1970 graduate of St. Cloud Technical High School.

Mike’s work history includes being a paper boy in his youth, 33 years at Perkin’s Restaurant in Sauk Rapids and working at Cashwise East until his retirement in 2019. In 2015 he became a resident at Skylight Gardens in St. Cloud and resided there until his death.

In his youth, Mike made some choices, resulting in traumatic brain injuries, but his disabilities did not deter him from pursuing his passions. Mike was an avid sports fan, embracing his beloved Tech Tiger teams with fervor, earning him the title “Super Fan”. He compiled countless notebooks with statistics on all the teams from their beginnings. This passion continued with his love of all MN sports teams: the Vikings, Wild, Twins, Timberwolves, Lynx and Frost. His other passions included collecting anything he deemed worthy of pursuit, from stamps, to beer cans, to event buttons to MN sheriff patches, and everything in between. He was dependent on others for rides and if that didn’t work, he used his bicycle to continue his pursuits. In the late 1970’s, he decided to collect sheriff patches from each county in MN, completing his collection in Feb. of 1980, biking to many counties on his trusty two-wheeled bike. Mike was also a champion donation collector for March of Dimes campaigns, raising thousands of dollars for this cause over the years, which resulted in his throwing out the first pitch at a Twins game. He loved family history and compiled names and dates for members of his fraternal and maternal family, going back several generations, all of this handwritten.

Mike was curious, adventurous, a bit stubborn at times, resistant to change but remained true to his blood type (B positive), always finding the positive in life. He was a member of St. John Cantius Catholic Church where he also served on the Parish Council and as an usher.

Mike was a frequent caller to local WJON radio and considered the staff and listeners his extended family. Skylight Gardens staff and residents were also part of his extended family as were his beloved Tech Tigers.

Mike is survived by his sisters Betty (Gene) Pundsack, Foley and Carol (Ed) Kacures, Big Lake; nieces and nephews Cheri (Ed) Talirico, Josh and J.J. Dombrovski, Kristy (Dave) Ahlbrecht and Jason (Kristy) Kacures; great nieces/nephews Jessica, Stephanie, Tyler, Frances, Philip, Joseph, Logan, Evan, Ella, Dean, Annabelle and Oakley. He is also survived by many relatives and his good friends Ruth and Paul.

He was preceded in death by his much loved parents, brothers John and Bill and his dogs Pixie and Tuffy.

Special thanks to medical professionals from CentraCare, St. Cloud Hospital and his brother-in-law Gene.

I remember Michael being very passionate about the Tigers and such a great supporter. Especially at the basketball and football games he did a magnificent job of getting the crowd into the games with his amazing rallying cries. My family and I have spoken about him many times over the years and recalled his signature chant “where oh where is the Tiger team?” Such a gem of a human!

I always enjoyed Mike’s calls on Stump the Panel with an abundance of St. Cloud Tech HS sports questions. You could always tell where Mike was sitting at Tech basketball games and when where he was located while riding his adorned bicycle. I will miss you dude!

He was one of a kind. A special person!
