July 18, 1969 – November 13, 2022
Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, December 1, 2022 at St. Louis Catholic Church in Paynesville for Michael R. Jung, age 53 of Kimball who passed away on Sunday, November 13, 2022 at Savanna Prairie in Kimball. Reverend Glenn Krystosek will officiate. Burial of the urn will take place in the parish cemetery.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to services on Thursday at the church.
Mike was born on July 18, 1969 to Robert and Lois (Soliah) Jung. He graduated from Paynesville High School and attended the University of Minnesota. He married Renee Albert in 1996 and they were later divorced. Mike worked most recently for the Seattle Housing Authority and retired due to his injury.
He enjoyed writing poetry, cooking, Star Trek, Star Wars, and cats. Mike especially loved the time spent with close friends and family.
He is survived by his parents; siblings, Marie (Tim) Lingl of Richmond, Susan (William) Lai of Pleasanton CA, Tom (Shelley) of Hastings; nieces and nephews, Sara, Amanda, Andrew, Stephanie, Alex, Samantha, Christy, Walter; special friend, Deanna Montgomery; great nieces and nephews, and extended family.
Michael was preceded in death by his grandparents; and one great nephew.

Mike was one of my dearest friends growing up in Paynesville, and we continued our friendship starting college together at the Univ. of Minnesota. He was a gentle soul and incredibly smart and funny. His dry humor was second to none. RIP old friend.
Our sympathy to Mike’s family. We have known Mike for many years. He was one of our dearest friends. We will always remember Mike and his love for poetry (he taught my son how to read poetry), fairness, kindness, and acceptance of all. He embodied what many of us strive for. May your spirit be free, we will miss you.
