Mike A. Salaski

April 14, 1951 – February 28, 2023

Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., with a Memorial Service starting at 7:00 p.m., on Monday, March, 6, 2023 at the Daniel Funeral Home, St. Cloud for Mike A. Salaski, age 71, of Sauk Rapids, who passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, February 28, 2023. Reverend Susie Putzke will officiate.

Mike was born on April 14, 1951 to Carl and Lucille “Connie” (Conroy) Salaski in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He grew up in North St. Cloud and graduated from St. Cloud Cathedral High School in 1969. He later graduated from St. Cloud State University in 1984, with his Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology. He was united in marriage to Mary J. Corrigan in May of 1994. Mike began D.E.S. of St. Cloud in the late 1980s, and acted as owner operator until his “semi-retirement” in 2021 after 40 years of service. He was proud to hold electrical licenses in many states, including Minnesota, Wisconsin and Alaska. He was a former member of the St. Cloud Airport Authority Board, and the Lion’s Club.

Mike was a loving husband, brother and uncle and will be remembered for his big heart and sense of humor. He had an incredible, mechanical mind, and was famous for his ability to fix, improve or invent anything he set his mind to. He also enjoyed flying his Cessna 172 with his wife, collecting vintage vehicles (including a World War II Jeep and 1972 Volkswagen Beetle), and watching Star Trek.

He is survived by his loving wife, Mary; siblings, Toni Murphy, Terri (Alan) Laudenbach, Patrick (Ann), Dan (Rhonda), and Joe (Jeanne); numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews; and many friends and business associates.

Mike is preceded in death by his parents.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to your charity of choice in Mike’s honor.

I was saddened to hear of Mike’s untimely passing. He was always a bright spot in the group. To Mary and all his family, I want you know that I am keeping you all in my prayers. Bill

I am so sorry to hear that Mike has passed. I remember him to be a lot of fun and very caring. Haven’t seen him in many years but the photos are spot on. I wish peace and strength to his loved ones

Mary & Dan, Barb and I are very sorry to hear about your loss, Mike was a great friend and helped me out many times with different electrical issues I had over the years, I also enjoyed working with Mike over the years on several home, business, and several motel projects.
Mike would also call me on several occasions and ask it I wanted to go flying with him, we spent many hours in his 172 Cessna N320Y, one of my most memorable flights with Mike was when we took the 172 Cessna and went to Bula, ND. to service a Air handler there and then Flew to Greeley, CO. and then rented a car to drive to Avon, CO. to service another air handler there, the next morning we drove back to Greeley to fly back to ST. Cloud, most of the flight back was at night, Mike let me fly most of the way back home as he would sleep for a bit then wake up and ask where we were at, and as long as I was on course he would go back to sleep for a while.
It was a beautiful clear night and this was my first night flight as I did take flight training back in the early 70’s.
It was a very sad moment for me when I heard about Mike, he was a great friend and I learned a lot from him over the years.
R.I.P my friend you will be missed by many of us.

My sincere condolences to Mary and Mike’s family! I have never met Mike. But when Pat shared this sad news, don’t know, why I felt a heavenly connection with him. From the photos and description of Mike shared, I can sense that he was a flamboyant personality. Wish, I could meet him! May the soul left for his heavenly abode rest in peace!

So sorry for your loss Mary. You have our deepest sympathy. God bless you. 🙏

Our sincere condolences to Mary and Mike’s family. I fondly remember all of the good times we had together. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Mike,

I am very proud to say you are my oldest brother.

Also, when I think back on your life the most important things you taught me early on was to work hard and to never give up!

I appreciate you watching over me from heaven.

Love,

Joseph
