Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 26, 2010 at St. Louis Catholic Church in Paynesville for Miranda B. Hemmesch, age 86 of St. Joseph and formerly of Paynesville who passed away on Tuesday, March 23, 2010 at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Sauk Rapids. Reverend Glenn Krystosek will officiate. Burial will take place at the St. Margaret’s Parish Cemetery in Lake Henry.
Family and friends may call from 3:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday and after 10:00 a.m. on Friday at the church. Parish prayers will be at 3:30 p.m. followed by the Christian Women at 4:30 p.m. Thursday at the church. Arrangements were by the Daniel-Anderson Funeral Home, Paynesville.
Miranda was born on July 9, 1923 in Munson Township, Stearns County, Minnesota to Jacob and Mary (Schlangen) Schmitz. She married Nick J. Hemmesch on June 16, 1941. The couple farmed in Lake Henry until moving to Paynesville in 1978. Miranda has made her home in St. Joseph since 2000. She was a member of St. Louis Parish, Christian Women, Catholic Order of Foresters and Crosier Apostolate.
Miranda is survived by her children, Mary of St. Cloud, Betty (Ron) Backes of Richmond, Math (Karen) of Paynesville, Rosie Sheldrup of Mankato, Dan (Norma) of Spring Hill, Randy (Debbie) of Lake Henry, Debbie (Mike) Meagher of Paynesville, and Bruce of St. Joseph; 21 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; sisters, Marcella Kollman of Sauk Centre, Irene Hemmesch of Paynesville, Alma Mathison of Arizona and MaryAnn Mikrot of St. Cloud; and brother, Ben of Fergus Falls.
She was preceded in death by her husband on October 12, 1978; son, Lynn; son-in-law, Marlyn Sheldrup; two grandchildren, Amber Hemmesch and Jacob Meagher; five brothers, Linus, Christ, Elmer, Alvin and Marvin.
Memorials are preferred.
