Nathaniel J. Spychala

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 17, 2026, at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Opole, for Nathaniel J. Spychala, age 43, of Holdingford, who passed away at his home on Tuesday, September 8, 2026. Reverend Greg Paffel will officiate. Burial will take place in the Parish Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday and after 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, all at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Opole. Arrangements are with the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud.

Nathaniel was born on January 19, 1983, in St. Cloud, Minnesota to Jeffrey Spychala and Michelle Shaw. He graduated from Sauk Rapids High School in 2001 and St. Cloud Technical College in 2005. Nathaniel married Maria Suico in 2010. He currently worked as a mechanic for Knife River.

Nathaniel had so many hobbies in his life. He was a true tinkerer at heart. He loved projects, building and taking things apart, and putting them back together (sometimes). From four-wheelers and bikes to go-karts and cars, he tinkered with it all. He had a natural talent for working with his hands. He was a mechanic, carpenter, plumber, electrician, sewer and a great cook. More than anything though he was a great son, a caring sibling and a loving husband and father.

He loved collecting and browsing through Gopher Bargain Center and Savers. He collected everything vintage including lanterns, old bicycles, sewing machines, knives, kitchen appliances, trinkets and made in the USA forks and spoons.
What he loved most of all though and truly shined at was being a family man. His favorite activities were always with the family. Family dinners, grilling, travelling, movies and family game nights.

He is survived by his wife, Maria of Holdingford; children, Abigail (18), Mariel (15), Aiden (9), Faye (3), Delilah (1), all at home; parents, Jeff (Laure) Spychala, Michelle (Eugene) Lemke of ; siblings, Travis Spychala and Ashley (Brad) Chmielewski.

Nathaniel was preceded in death by his grandparents, Richard Shaw, Joan Peterson, Sylvan and Delores Spychala.

Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers.

His mom was his best friend.
