I just watched Peter’s slideshow. It lookes like he had a wonderful life with his large, loving family. May God bless you with his peace, as you reflect on all those wonderful memories.

May 14, 1909 – October 9, 2009

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, October 14, 2009 at St. Louis Catholic Church in Paynesville for Peter J. Holper age 100, of Paynesville. Peter passed away at his home on Friday, October 9, 2009. Reverend Glenn Krystosek will officiate. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery with Full Military Honors.
Friends and family may call between 4:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at St. Louis Catholic Church and one hour prior to services on Wednesday at the church in Paynesville. Parish prayers will be at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the Church.
Pete was born on May 14, 1909 in Wadena, Minnesota to John and Anna (Rueter) Holper. His family moved to Paynesville in 1913 where they farmed. Pete graduated from Paynesville High School and attended St. Cloud Business College. He served during World War II in the United States Army Air Force. He married Adeline Mary Schleper on August 28, 1945 in St. Louis Catholic Church in Paynesville. He owned and operated Pete and Ole’s Tavern for 17 years. He was then employed as a Building Engineer at St. Cloud State University until his retirement. Pete worked part time with his wife Adeline at the Paynesville Off Sale Liquor Store during his retirement.
He was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus Council #3820.
Pete enjoyed watching Twins baseball, gardening, fishing, playing cards, and raising chickens. He loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Adeline; children, Linda (Tom) Mueller of Gilman, Peter (Jeannine) of Foster City, CA, Timothy (Roxanna) of Elgin, Catherine (Scott) Robinson of Carbondale, CO, Robert (Kathleen) of Rosemount, and James (Joan) of Stillwater; and 16 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Mikayla; brothers and sisters, Susanna, Catherine, Barbara, Nicholas, Jacob, Marcus, Genevieve, and Marie.
A Special Thank You to Cindy Lundberg and the Rice Area Hospice Staff, Ruth Kraemer, Marlene Athmann, Rick Houske, Louise Mehr, and Pete’s nieces Suzy and Roxy.
Memorials are preferred.
