Renee G. Streit

Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday, April 3, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Waite Park for Renee G. Streit, age 87 of Waite Park who passed away on Thursday, March 21, 2024 at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Sauk Rapids. Reverend Brady Keller will officiate. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud and after 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday at the church. Parish prayers will be 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home in St. Cloud.

Renee was born on December 29, 1936 in St. Cloud, Minnesota to Hubert and Rose (Herges) Mohs. She was employed as a bookkeeper prior to marrying Wilfrid A. “Fred” Streit on May 17, 1958 at Holy Angels Catholic Church in St. Cloud. Renee worked for her cousin, Jerry at Schweiter’s Meat Market from 1977 until it closed in 1981; she then was employed by the St. Cloud School District #742 as a Kitchen Aid until 1993 when she retired to care for her grandchildren. She also did the bookkeeping for her husband’s business, Fred’s Lino Type

Renee was a member of St. Joseph’s Parish, where she volunteered by, cleaning the church, helping cook bouja, sang in the choir and was an Extraordinary Eucharistic Minister to the residents of the Waite Park Nursing Home.

Renee poured love and light into everything she did. Whether that was serving others tirelessly, (she never herself ate a hot meal) supporting her children and grandchildren unconditionally, or just giggling with her sisters over wine. Renee’s spirited laugh was big, generous, and fully present: it filled the house, spilled into the neighborhood, and touched her friends and family deeply. She is loved & missed.

Renee is survived by her children, Perry (Denise) of Waite Park, Dale (Jill) of St. Joseph, Daniel (Mary) of Baxter and Gina of Sartell; 11 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; brother and sisters, Larry (Clare) of St. Cloud, Ione (Art) LaFond of Prior Lake and Jeannie McCain of Kennesaw, Georgia; brothers and sisters-in-law, Richard (Mary) Streit of Rochester, Jane (Dean) Hoffmann of Sartell and Bill (Cathy) Streit of Circle Pines and Arnie Wadekamper of Mankato.

Renee was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Fred; brother, Eugene; sisters, Eileen Wadekamper, Joan Libor and her husband Steve; and brother-in-law, James McCain and sister-in-law Eileen (Mel) Conrad.

Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers to the Good Shepherd Community.
