Rev. Edward C. Ramacher

September 5, 1917 – February 6, 2007

Reverend Edward Cornelius Ramacher was born on September 5, 1917, in Constance, MN. He was the son of Cornelius and Katherine Scholl Ramacher. He attended Our Lady of Lourdes Grade School, Dobie, WI. He received his high school, college and seminary training at the Pontifical College Josephinum, Worthington, OH. He was ordained at the Josephinum on March 10, 1945, by Archbishop Amelto Giovanni Cicognani. He celebrated his First Mass on April 8, 1945, at St. Ann’s Church, Minneapolis, MN.

Father Ramacher served in the following assignments: associate pastor, St. Boniface Church, Melrose, May 1945-June 1945; St. Mary’s Church, Little Falls, June 1945-July 1949; pastor, St. Francis Xavier Church, Sartell, July 1949-July 1957; Holy Cross Church, Pearl Lake, September 1963-November 1965; St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Church, Long Prairie, November 1965-July 1977; St. James Church, Randall, July 1977-July 1987. Father Ramacher retired in July 1987.

Father Ramacher served as Director of the Family Life Bureau from1946 until 1966 and was Director of the North Central Region from 1957 until 1963. He also was in charge of Rural Life Bureau from 1954 until 1966. Father Ramacher was Executive Director of the Opus Dei Fund of the Diocese 1978 to 1986.

Father Ramacher died on Tuesday, February 6, 2007, at Kindred Hospital, Ontario, CA. A Vigil Service will be held at the Cathedral of St. Mary, St. Cloud, MN on Tuesday, February 13, 2007 at 7:00 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Cathedral of St. Mary, St. Cloud, MN on February 14, 2007, at 11:00 a.m. with The Most Reverend John F. Kinney presiding. Burial will be in Assumption Cemetery, St. Cloud, MN. Visitation will be on Tuesday, February 13th between 3:00-8:30 PM at St. Mary’s Cathedral in St. Cloud.

Father Ramacher is survived by one brother, Gerald, Hopkins, MN and two sisters Evelyn Allen, Chino, CA and Lucille Skibbe, Brooklyn Park, MN.

He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers, Joseph, Hubert, Albert, and Lawrence and three sisters, Regina Blaska, Mary Unger and Genevieve Bennett.
