Richard C. Thompson

Funeral services celebrating the life of Richard C. Thompson, age 50, of St. Cloud will be at 11 am on Monday, July 10, 2006 at St. John’s Episcopal Church in St. Cloud.  The Rev. Charles Preble will officiate.  Burial will be on Tuesday at 1:30 pm in Oak Grove Cemetery, Detroit Lakes, MN.  Friends may call between 4-9 pm on Sunday at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud and after 10 am on Monday at the church.  There will be a prayer service at 5 pm on Sunday at the funeral home in St. Cloud.

Richard died on July 4, 2006 of pancreatic cancer.  He was born on September 15, 1955 in Santa Monica, CA.  Richard attended schools in Southern California and graduated from Whittier College in 1978.  He spent his childhood summers at his grandparents’ cottage on Lake Melissa in Detroit Lakes, MN, fueling his love of sailing and prompting an interest in later owning the family cottage.  In 1989 he married Marie Escamilla and they lived in Seattle and Edmonds, WA before moving to the St. Cloud area in 1997.  As sales manager for Bayer Built Woodworks in Belgrade, MN, Richard became passionate about the millwork industry.  He developed close friendships with his work colleagues and oversaw tremendous growth in millwork sales for the company.  He loved sailing on Lake Melissa, dining out with Marie or eating her wonderful home-cooked Mexican meals, and playing with his beloved miniature schnauzer “Barney”.  

He is survived by his wife Marie Thompson, sister Anne Adams of Seattle, WA and mother Mary Anne Cox Thompson of Pomona, CA, as well as extended family and a network of friends throughout the U.S.
