I want to share a brief tribute to honor the memory of my ex brother-in-law. My late husband and I always held a deep affection and fondness for him. In the earlier years, when he was married to my sister, he and my husband work closely together, creating a wonderful bond of friendship and respect that lasted a lifetime. Though both he and my husband are gone now I am endlessly grateful for the beautiful visit we had a couple of years ago. He came to her home and we were able to reminisce, and enjoy each other’s company. It is a memory I will carry in my heart forever. He was a good man and a dear friend to my husband and a treasured part of our lives.May he rest in peace. Love you Bob!
Robert K. Hendrickson
March 12, 1940 – August 20, 2026
Robert was born in Albert Lea, MN to Wilmont Marius Hendrickson and Vera Marie Wallace. He was raised on the Jackson Farm in Albert Lea. Milking cows, helping with chickens, and picking berries were his fondest memories of growing up.
He loved traveling, fishing, camping, playing pickleball and most of all watching and discussing sports. Robert was an All-Star Wrestler in High School, and the newspaper articles of his matches are part of his photo albums of memories.
Robert was a Navy Veteran and served his country from the years 1959-1965. He often spoke of his time spent in Japan on the Navy ship and retained many phrases in Japanese that he learned there.
Robert is survived by his brother Verle Gordon Hendrickson, his sister Gail Valorie Armstrong, his half-sister Theo Rae Hurckes, his children Michael John Hendrickson, Michael Gene Hendrickson, Dawn Marie Hendrickson (Cabezuela), Matthew Clayton Hendrickson (Heidi), his grandchildren Krystal Dawn Wallace (Alex), David Anthony Cabezuela, Clayton Allen Hendrickson, Clarissa Keira Hendrickson, among others, and his great granddaughter Evelyn Grace Wallace, along with several nieces and nephews.
Robert is preceded in death by his parents Wilmont Marius Hendrickson & Vera Marie Wallace, his brother Dale Wallace Hendrickson, and his son Robert Keith Hendrickson Jr.
He spent his last days at the Benedictine Living Community’s Assumption Home with daily visits from his dearest friend Carol Lien. By the grace of God, he entered into eternity as a member of the One, Holy, Catholic & Apostolic Church at his request on August 15, 2026, on the Feast of Our Lady’s Assumption.
There will be a Requiem Mass held at St. Robert Bellarmine Church in St. Cloud, MN on Wednesday August 26, 2026 at 10:30 am. Visitation will begin after 9:30 am at the Church. Burial with full Military Honors will be at the MN State Veterans Cemetery near Little Falls.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations toward a Gregorian set of Masses, or prayers and Masses offered for the repose of his soul.
