Ruth J. Terwey

Mass of Christian Burial celebrating the life of Ruth J. Terwey, age 85, of St. Joseph will be at 2 pm on Monday, November 10, 2008 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in St. Joseph, MN. Ruth died on Friday, November 7, 2008 at the Country Manor Health Care Center in Sartell, MN. The Rev. Alfred Stangl will officiate. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

Family and friends may call between 4-9 pm on Sunday and after 12 noon on Monday at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Joseph, MN. St. Joseph Senior Citizens and Council of Catholic Women will pray at 4:30 pm Sunday at the funeral home in St. Joseph followed by the parish prayers and a time of sharing at 7 pm.

Ruth was born on May 2, 1923 in St. Joseph, MN to Michael and Mary (Himsl) Zimmer. She married Delphin M. Terwey on June 28, 1947 in St. Joseph, MN. She lived in St. Joseph all of her life where she and her husband owned and operated a family farm. She was a member of St. Joseph parish, Senior Citizens and the Council of Catholic Women.

Ruth’s namesake meant “strong woman” and she will be remembered as a wonderful mother figure who lent strength, support and guidance to everyone. Her unconditional love and faith guided her through life.

Survivors include her children: David (Ann) of St. Joseph, Beverly Fiereck (Donald) of Clear Lake, Noel (Becky) of Cold Spring, Mary Jo Eisenschenk (Frank) of Sartell, Gary (Bernice) of Black Duck, Steven (Mary Ann) of Sartell, Wayne (Linda) of St. Joseph, Lois Muggli (John) of Waite Park, Jacob (Lori) of St. Joseph, Arnold (Debbie Reinert) of St. Joseph and Joel (Tammy Clark) of Hudson, WI; 26 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; sister Lenore Hilsgen of St. Cloud, sister in law Esther Zimmer of Prior Lake.

She was preceded in death by her husband on June 17, 1986, three sons James, Mathew and Douglas; three sisters and six brothers.
