Violet B. Hammond

Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, October 26, 2006 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in St. Cloud, MN for Violet B. Hammond, age 85 of St. Cloud, who died on Sunday, October 22, 2006 at St. Cloud Hospital. The Reverend Virgil Helmin of Holy Spirit Catholic Church in St. Cloud will be the celebrant. Visitation will be on Thursday morning from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in St. Cloud.

Violet was born on July 4, 1921 on a farm near Maida, ND, the daughter of Andrew and Katherine (Druar) Hell. She married Charles R. Hammond on November 18, 1946 at St. Alphonse’s Catholic Church at Langdon, ND. Six children were born to this union. Mr. & Mrs. Hammond lived in Langdon and Clyde, ND before moving to St. Cloud, MN in 1965. After her children were in school, Violet worked outside the home and eventually went to work as a custodian for School District 742. She retired in 1991.

She was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church and VFW Granite Post 428 Auxiliary both of St. Cloud, MN

She is survived by her husband Charles of St. Cloud, MN, her six children, Charles (Sue) Hammond of Martinez, CA, Corliss (Henry) Thomas of Stillwater, MN, Linda (Dick) Whitney of Circle Pines, MN, John (Sookie) Hammond of Sauk Rapids, MN, Karen (Matt Cook) Hammond of St. Paul, MN, Rick Hammond of St. Cloud, MN, 12 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild, one brother Kenneth Hell of Milwaukee, WI, other relatives and many friends.

In addition to her parents, Violet was preceded in death by 12 brothers and sisters Ray, Rose, Olive, Frances, Anna, Julia, Veronica, Henry, Florence, Harold, Clayton, and Donald.
