Walter A. Krey

Mass of Christian Burial celebrating the life of Walter A. Krey, age 82, of St. Cloud will be at 10:30 am on Thursday, April 29, 2010 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in St. Cloud. Walter died on April 24, 2010 at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in St. Cloud surrounded by his loving family. The Rev. Bernard Gruenes will officiate. Burial will be in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Little Falls with full military honors.

Family and friends may call between 4-8 pm on Wednesday at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud and after 9:30 on Thursday at the church. St. Michael’s parish prayers will be at 5 pm on Wednesday at the funeral home in St. Cloud followed by the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 622 at 6 pm and VFW Post 428 at 6:30 pm.

Walter was born on March 18, 1928 in Albany, MN to Frank and Mary (Athmann) Krey. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He married Marguerite Ann Winje on October 22, 1960 in Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Graceville, MN. He was employed at Purity Milk for over 37 years and later retired from Gold’N Plump Poultry in 1990. He was a member of St. Michael’s Parish, Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 622 and a life member of VFW Post 428.

Walter loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing. He enjoyed playing cards. He and Marguerite were members of the same 500 group for 45 years. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather.

He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years Marguerite, children and their spouses: Michael (Diane) of St. Cloud, Daniel (Mary) of Cold Spring, Tom (Kathi) of Richfield; grandchildren: Denise, Chris, Cory, Dylan, Kevin, Blake and Kayla; sister: Marie Brutger of St. Cloud and brothers: John of El Mirage, CA, and Alphonse of St. Joseph; sister-in-law Bernice Krey of St. Cloud.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Ralph and sisters Martha and Marcella; brothers-in-law Art Brutger and Art Wall and sister-in-law Cynthia Krey.
Memorials are preferred.
