Wilfred M. Bollig

Mass of Christian Burial celebrating the life of Wilfred M. Bollig, age 86, of Sartell will be at 11:30 am on Friday, January 25, 2008 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Sartell. Wilfred died on Jan. 21, 2008 at his home. The Rev. Lauren Germann will officiate. Burial will be in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Little Falls, MN with full military honors.

Friends may call between 4-8 pm on Thursday and after 10:30 am on Friday at the Gathering Space at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Sartell. Waite Park American Legion Post 428 will pray at 6 pm Thursday at the Gathering Space followed by VFW Post 6992 at 6:15 pm, St. Monica’s Christian Women at 6:30 pm, and the parish prayers at 7 pm. Arrangements are with Daniel Funeral Home, Sartell, MN

Wilfred was born on August 9, 1921 in Pierz, MN to Joseph and Sophia (Altenhofen) Bollig. He married Ruth Theis on June 12, 1948 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Buckman, MN. He lived in Sartell most of his married life. He was employed as a nurse’s aid at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in St. Cloud. He was a member of St. Francis Xavier parish, American Legion Post 428 of Waite Park, and a life member of the Sauk Rapids VFW Post 6992.

Wilfred was a loving husband, father and grandfather. His hobbies were hunting, fishing, card playing and woodworking.

Survivors include his wife Ruth, children: David (Diane) of Monticello, Gerald “Jed” (Debbie) of Sauk Rapids, Kevin (Roberta) of St. Joseph, Les (Kris) of Big Pine Key, FL, Lawrence “Larry” (Sharon) of White Bear Lake, Mary Bjerke of Aurora, CO, Bette (Ron) Karnik of Aurora, CO and John (Debra) of Sartell; 18 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; brothers and sisters: Marietta Heim of St. Paul, Ann Seelen of Little Falls, and Joseph (Helen) of Inver Grove Heights.

He was preceded in death by brothers Richard, Paul, Matthew, and James; sisters Amelia Tretter and Alice Muelhbauer and one infant great grandson.
