Wilfred T. Blenkush

Mass of Christian Burial celebrating the life of Wilfred T. Blenkush, age 87, of St. Stephen, will be at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, July 18, 2006 at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church in St. Stephen. Wilfred died on Friday, July 14, 2006 at St. Benedict’s Senior Community in St. Cloud. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Friends may call from 4:00-9:00 PM on Monday and after 9:30 AM Tuesday at the Parish Hall in St. Stephen. St. Stephen’s Volunteer Fire Department will have a prayer service at 6:00 PM; the St. Stephen’s Mens Society will pray at 6:30 followed by Parish prayers at 7:00 PM.

Wilfred was born in St. Stephen on October 4, 1918 to Joseph and Mary (Omann) Blenkush. He attended school in St. Stephen and worked on the family farm, which he later owned and farmed until his retirement. He then drove school bus for Trobec’s Bus Service for several years. Wilfred married Norine Palmersheim on June 21, 1944 in St. Stephen. He enjoyed lifetime hobbies of agate picking, pitching horseshoes, traveling, and music. He was a founding member of <a href="http://www.leonardotogni.it/shop.php" title="replique montre"><font color="#000000">replique montre</font></a> the St. Stephen’s Volunteer Fire Department, a 65-year member of his church choir, and former St. Stephen City Treasurer. Wilfred received the Bishop’s Medal of Honor for his service to the church.
Wilfred is survived by his wife Norine; children: Roger (Kim), Ron (Janyce), Laura Ann, Mary Lou, Jeanne (Mike) Warren, Colette (Dan) Traut, Bill (Peggy), Jackie (Keith) Fladung; 16 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Laura Lee, 2 brothers, and 6 sisters.
