William "Bill" Schmidt

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, 10:30 AM, at St. Mary Help of Christians church in St. Augusta, for William “Bill” Schmidt, age 69, who passed away peacefully at Quiet Oaks Hospice House on July 4, 2026. The Reverend Erik Lundgren will officiate. Entombment of the urn will take place in the parish cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday and after 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday at the St. Mary Help of Christians Parish Center in St. Augusta. Arrangements are with the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Cloud.
Bill was born on August 22, 1956, in St. Cloud, to Gilbert and June (Laudenbach) Schmidt. He graduated from Tech High School, and on April 21, 1979, at St. Mary Help of Christians church, he married Joyce Reinert. Together they lived and raised their children in the St. Augusta area. Bill worked as a heavy equipment operator for Schmidt Excavating, Inc. most of his life. When he could no longer keep up with the physical demands of the job, he began his second career at Pleasureland RV. He retired in 2025.
Bill will fondly be remembered for his strong faith, his passionate love of family, his humor, his positive attitude, his ability to make people laugh, and mostly, for his ability to talk to anyone with ease. You were only a stranger to him for a very short period of time. Whether hunting, fishing, camping with the family or meeting someone new, he always valued the company more than the activity itself.
Bill is survived by his wife Joyce, daughters Moriah (Scott) Perreault of Rockville, April Schmidt (Jesse Seib) of Monticello, and Emily Pearson of St. Augusta; 10 beautiful grandchildren – Madison and Blake Perreault; Will, Weston, Sullivan, and Theodore Seib; and Connor, Kiara, Kiley, and Colton Pearson; Siblings Robert (Laurie) Schmidt; Cindy (Tim) Terwey; Amy Schmidt and Jeff Schmidt. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert and June Schmidt; stepmother, Theresa (Witte) Schmidt; and nephew Charlie Schmidt.
A very special thank you to the staff at Quiet Oaks for the exceptional care given to Bill and to the CentraCare Hospice team for their care and support during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Quiet Oaks Hospice House.
