David P. "Dave" Ellis

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 1, 2021 at the Daniel Funeral Home in Clearwater for David P. Ellis, age 54, of Buffalo, who passed away on Thursday, March 25, 2021 at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester. Reverend Jamen Wikler will officiate. Burial will be in Acacia Cemetery in Clearwater. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Thursday at the Daniel Funeral Home, Clearwater.

David “Dave” Paul Ellis was born on September 7, 1966 to Janet (Sheldon) Ellis and Larry Ellis in Rice Lake, WI.  He was baptized at the Lutheran Church in Cameron, WI.  When Dave was six months old, the family moved to Fridley, MN.  Dave started school in Hutchinson, MN and finished school in Osseo, MN.  He was married from 1994 to 2012.

Dave was an entrepreneur and started two businesses during his lifetime.  His first business was Personal Touch Carpet and Upholstery Cleaning.  For the last several years he owned King Kom Cable, a fiber optic and computer communications business.  Dave lived in Buffalo, MN  for the last 20 years.  He became ill with cancer within the last year and lost his battle on March 25, 2021 at Mayo Methodist Hospital in Rochester, MN at the age of 54 years, 6 months and 18 days.

Dave loved his family and friends.  He enjoyed hunting and fishing.  He thoroughly enjoyed spending time at Port Isabel, TX with family and friends.  He loved to cook, make his own pasta and spend time grilling.  He enjoyed entertaining and was an amazing host.  He also enjoyed long talks around the campfire.  He was well known for and enjoyed being the family auto mechanic.  He loved his ventures up north with family to hang out, ride the ATV, play dice and maybe enjoy a sip or two of Crown Royal. 

David is survived by his parents, Janet (Sheldon) Ellis of Princeton, MN, and Larry Ellis of Paynesville, MN; daughter, Angela (Troy) Ellis of Blaine, MN; step daughters, Nicole Gredzens of Loretto, MN, Tara (Chris) Wolff of St Michael, MN and Natalie (Grant) Madich of Hanover, MN;  siblings, Kimberley (Michael) Ellis-McKigney of Paynesville, MN, Mark (Mary) Ellis of Clearwater, MN and Matthew (Julie) Ellis of Princeton, MN; two aunts, Phyllis Popko of Edina, MN and Mary Sobotta of Rochester, MN; two godchildren, Andrew Clem and Brittany Ellis; eight grandchildren, Jordan, Grace, Aidan, Lily, Joshua, Arya, Ayla, Charlie, and one great-grandson Oliver; four nieces and nephews and four great-nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Bernard and Agnes Sheldon, Leo and Avis Ellis and uncles, John Popko and George Sobotta.

Dave was a very humble and a big-hearted person to everyone he met.  He will be greatly missed.
