James R. Schreifels

January 10, 1963 – May 15, 2013

Mass of Christian Burial celebrating the life of James R. Schreifels, age 50, of Pearl Lake/Kimball will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 18, 2013 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in St. Joseph. Jim passed away after a year-long battle with Kidney Cancer on Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at his home with family by his side. Reverend Jerome Tupa, OSB will officiate. Burial will be at a later date.

 

Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Friday and after 8:30 a.m. on Saturday at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Joseph. Parish prayers will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Friday at the Funeral Home.

Jim was born on January 10, 1963 in St. Cloud, Minnesota to Richard E. and Virginia (Bauer) Schreifels. He graduated from St. Cloud Technical High School in 1981 and from St. Cloud Technical College with a degree in Water Treatment and Business Management. He was president and owner of Schreifels Water Works, operating for 20 plus years. Jim was united in marriage to Kati Ostendorf on May 10, 2013 at their home on the lake.

Jim loved spending time with his eight year old son, Brayden. They enjoyed fishing and being out on the Pontoon together. Jim was an avid hunter who enjoyed the outdoors, playing softball and spending time at the cabin. Jim will be remembered for his quick wit and sense of humor.

He is survived by his wife, Kati and their son, Brayden of Pearl Lake; mother, Ginny Schreifels of St. Cloud; brothers and sister, Gordy (Jolaine) of Pearl Lake, Randy (Roseann) of Clearwater, Dean (Denise) of Lakeville, Judy (Greg) Flint of Richmond; parents-in-law, Gary and Cheryl Ostendorf; sister-in-law, Kristi Ostendorf; and 12 nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Richard E. in 1995; grandparents, Ben and Isabelle Schreifels, Math and Marcella Bauer; and step-grandmother, Alvina Bauer.

Memorials are preferred.

I only had the privilege of knowing jimmy for a few years but in that short time his spirit made a lasting impression. I will cherish those memories and will miss him.

Dear Ginny and all of your family – Please know that All of you are in our prayers at this most difficult time. May all of you find comfort and peace in your many memories of him. Everyone who has ever known him has been touched in a special way and we are all better for having had him in our lives. We could feel all the love and support this evening at the visitation.

Ginny and family, we are sincerely sorry for your loss. We always remember Jim through the years as a very positive and good natured guy. I’m sure this is extremely difficult for your family and especially for his young son. May God bless all of you and keep you strong.
