Margaret Mary Lauermann Turlo

Margaret Mary Lauermann Turlo, a longtime resident of Palm Springs, California died May 26, 2021 in Marlton, New Jersey.

She was born July 11, 1934 to Charles Joseph and Margaret Cecile Lauermann in St. Cloud, Minnesota.

Madame Turlo, as she was called by her students, was an educator for more than 40 years in Minnesota, Michigan and California. She received a Bachelor of Science degree from Saint Cloud State University, a Master of Arts degree from the University of Michigan and a PhD from the University of California, Riverside.

She was active in numerous civic and professional organizations including National Charity League, World Affairs Council, Community Concerts, Delta Kappa Gamma, American Association of University Women, Sons of Italy, Palm Springs Genealogical Society, Southwest Conference on Language Teaching, California Language Teaching Association, Inland Empire Language Teachers Association, College of the Desert Chorus, Desert Voices, and the parishes of St . Teresa and Our Lady of Guadalupe.

She is survived by her daughters, Mary Fleer of Battle Creek, Nebraska and Laura Montgomery of Marlton, New Jersey; one brother David Lauermann of Kimball, Minnesota, as well as seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, James and Edward Lauermann.

Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, June 22 at 11:30 A.M.  at the family plot in Calvary Cemetery, St. Cloud, Minnesota, under the direction of Daniel Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers donations in Margaret’s name can be made to the Mizell Senior Center in Palm Springs.
