Paul was born on March 27, 1939, in Montclair, NJ to Carmen and Theresa Lombardi. After graduating from New Jersey Institute of Technology in 1964 he moved to Detroit, MI to start his career as an engineer. He met Joan Przywara and they married at Sacred Heart Church in Dearborn, MI on October 15, 1966.
Paul and Joan lived in Michigan, New Jersey, and New York before settling down in St. Cloud in 1974. Locally, his career included time at ASEA Brown Boveri and McNally Industries. While engineering was his life-long passion, he equally enjoyed the many friendships he developed around the world travelling for business and with Joan during retirement. Paul was an active member of the Church of St. Augustine. He was proud to lead two building campaigns, serve on the parish council and act as a trustee.
Spending January and February in Palm Springs with Joan every year and the annual Lombardi Family Vacation with children and grandchildren were times he looked forward to and thoroughly enjoyed.
Paul is survived by Joan, his loving wife of 55 years, his children Anne (Garett) Susalski of San Marcos, CA; Paul (Cathy) Lombardi of Appleton, WI; Vincent (Stephanie) Lombardi of Loves Park, IL; and Theresa (Rick) Fleege of St. Cloud, MN and ten grandchildren; Austin, Gavin, Matthew, Brooke, Dempsey, Kyle, Trevor, Noah, Blake, and Isabella. He is also survived by his brothers; James (Mary Jane) and Joe (Sara Jane) Lombardi. He was preceded in death by his parents.
The family would like to express a heartfelt thanks to all his caretakers, especially the staffs at Edgewood of Sartell, The Gardens at Foley, and Moments Hospice, who provided exceptional care over the past fourteen months. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials in Paul’s honor to the St. Augustine Improvement Project (442 2nd St SE, St Cloud MN 56304) or to St. Cloud Cathedral High School (312 7th Ave N, St Cloud MN 56303).
