Vitalia "Tally" Brinkman
November 26, 1922 – September 5, 2012

Mass of Christian Burial celebrating the life of Vitalia “Tally” Brinkman, 89, of Cold Spring and formerly of St. Joseph, will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 8, 2012 at St. John the Baptist Parish Center, 14241 Fruit Farm Road, Collegeville (not at the Abbey Church). Tally passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at the John Paul Apartments in Cold Spring. Reverend Wilfred Theisen will officiate. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Relatives and friends may call from 1:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Friday (TODAY) at the Assumption Nursing Home Chapel in Cold Spring. And also from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday (TODAY) and after 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, both at St. John the Baptist Parish Center in Collegeville. Parish prayers will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Friday at the parish center.
Tally was born on November 26, 1922 in Wakefield Township, Stearns County, Minnesota to Mathias and Catherine (Kinzer) Theisen. She was raised in Cold Spring and farmed in St. Joseph with her husband and children for 50 years. She married Leonard Brinkman on September 30, 1943 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Cold Spring. Tally was a member of St. John the Baptist Parish.
Tally enjoyed playing cards, reading, embroidery, and baking. She will be forever loved, missed and cherished by her large and loving family and multitude of friends.
She is survived by all ten of her children, Rob (Barb) of St. Joseph, Karen (Ron) Valentine of Blooming Prairie, Bill (Bernie) of Paynesville, Steve (Jeanette) of Cold Spring, John (Mitzie) of Avon, Tom (Diane) of Naperville, Illinois, Pete (Jan) of Maple Grove, Sue (Bob) Gray of Maple Grove, Paul (Jodi ) of St. Joseph, Scott of St. Joseph; 24 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren; and brothers and sister, Marcellus Theisen of Albany, Sylvester (Vera) Theisen of St. Joseph and Dolores Schwegel of Cold Spring.
She was preceded in death by her husband Leonard in 1989; grandson, Timothy Valentine;daughter – in – law Eileen Brinkman; parents and six siblings.
Memorials are preferred to Susan B. Komen.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. It sounds like she was a wonderful person and she sure did a great job with Tom……well mostly. Tom is a very good friend and really a tribute to how well she raised her kids. May you all find peace and comfort at this time.
TALLY WAS VERY WELL LIIKE AND LOVE BY A LOT OF PEOPLE. SHE SPOKE VERY HIGHLY OF HER CHILDREN HOW WELL THEY BEHAVE. THAT IS IF SHE DOESN’T FIND OUT. I WILL MISS HER DEEPLY. I CAN STILL REMENBER HER COOKING AND BAKING HER BARS. MY PARENTS AND LENNY AND TALLY ALWAYS PLAYED THEM THEIR CARDS. I KNOW SHE WILL BE MISS BY ALL OF YOU BUT REMEBER SHE IS BETTER OFF WITH JESUS. Sorry to hear of your mother’s passing. I have such fond memories of the 4H good times including a hayride at the Brinkman farm.
