Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 25, 2022 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Sartell for Wilfred N. “Bill” Traut, age 96 of Sartell who passed away on Good Friday, April 15 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Reverend Ron Weyrens will officiate. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery.

Visitation will be 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Sunday and one hour prior to Mass on Monday at the Gathering Space in St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. Parish prayers will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday. The St. Cloud Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus Father Pierz Assembly #530 will stand honor guard on Sunday from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00p.m. at the Gathering Space in Sartell.

Bill was born on May 23, 1925 to Martin and Susan (Weyer) Traut. He married Verda Kruchten on June 10, 1947 at Holy Angels Catholic Church in St. Cloud. He was a member of St. Francis Xavier and was a lector, Eucharistic Minister and former trustee. He belonged to the Knights of Columbus Council #5276 and St. Cloud Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus Father Pierz Assembly #530.

Farming was Bill’s life time passion. In his eighties and nineties, he could be found in his big garden. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing cards, traveling and reading. He kept up with current events in the world and especially enjoyed visiting with people. He was an active volunteer with the parish school, Country Manor and local food shelves.

He is survived by his children, Mary (Roger) Weyer of Sartell, Sue (Mike) Lahr of St. Joseph, Kathy (Dan Sufka) Wilson of Sartell, Marge (Larry Sampson) Blommel of Sartell, Dan (Colette) Traut of Sartell, Betty (Ken) Thole of Lino Lakes, Chris Zwiener of Sartell, 18 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren; siblings, Marcella Piasecki, Doreen Smoley, Larry “Happy” Traut, LeRoy (Linda) Traut; sisters-in-law, Lorraine Traut and Mary Jane MacDonald and many nieces and nephews.

Bill was preceded in death by his loving wife, Verda; his parents, three grandchildren; siblings and in laws, Al (Betty), Marian (Urban) Theisen, Victor, Marvin (Marcy), Melvin, Valeria (Jerome) Jefferson, Ken Smoley, Don Piasecki and Aggie Traut.
